Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations Intern
This full-time internship will run from May 24 through July 31, 2027, and will be based at SERVPRO Corporate Headquarters in Gallatin, Tennessee. The position pays $20.00 per hour. Please note that housing, relocation assistance, and other accommodations are not provided by the Company.
Job Summary
The Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations Intern's goal is to understand day-to-day operations within the SERVPRO Warehousing and Production Department. Through interning with our Warehousing & Production team, the Intern will obtain an understanding of business drivers and industry trends. The Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop a strong foundation in warehousing and distribution operations, inventory management, transportation, and continuous improvement, with rotational exposure to chemical blending production and the research and development of in-house products and equipment. The Supply Chain & Warehouse Operations Intern will work closely with experienced professionals who are committed to their growth and development.
You will
- Participate in weekly intern activities as scheduled and assigned.
- Attend team meetings and department events.
- Shadow experienced employees to learn business operations.
- Learn end-to-end warehouse operations by working alongside team members in receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, staging, loading, and shipping.
- Assist with cycle counting, inventory accuracy audits, and research and resolution of inventory discrepancies in partnership with Accounting and Purchasing.
- Analyze operational data and prepare reports on throughput, fill rate, on-time shipping, labor productivity, and backorders for leadership review.
- Support process mapping and time studies of key warehouse workflows; document current state and identify improvement opportunities.
- Assist in drafting and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials.
- Support slotting, space utilization, and layout reviews to improve capacity and reduce travel time.
- Support transportation and freight activities, including carrier performance tracking, freight cost review, and outbound shipment planning.
- Rotate through chemical blending production and product and equipment development to understand the raw material to finished goods lifecycle.
- Support process improvement, safety, and 5S initiatives.
- Participate in special projects assigned by supervisors, including a capstone project presented to division leadership at the conclusion of the internship.
You have
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); intermediate Excel skills including sorting, filtering, and pivot tables preferred.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- A proactive and creative mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute new ideas.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to organize data, identify trends, and clearly communicate findings.
- Interest in or exposure to ERP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); coursework in inventory management, procurement, or logistics preferred.
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Must be currently enrolled in college, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Rising junior, senior, or graduate student preferred.
Working Conditions
- Fast-paced, high pressure warehouse, production, and office environment.
- Will work a maximum of 40 hours per week Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; occasional early start times to align with warehouse operating hours.
- Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated warehouse and production areas.
- Ability to lift, push, or move up to 50 lbs. individually.
