Job Summary
The Instructional Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality learning content that strengthens franchisee and HQ capability across SERVPRO’s Schools of Learning (Restoration, Construction, Office, Biz Dev, Leadership, Onboarding, etc.). This role translates operational standards and business needs into clear, engaging, instructionally sound learning experiences delivered through on-demand, virtual, and live modalities. Reporting to the Director, Instructional Design, the Instructional Designer ensures content accuracy, consistency, and alignment with SERVPRO’s brand, operational expectations, and learning strategy.
You will
- Build high-quality learning content for on-demand modules, instructor-led training, blended programs, and microlearning.
- Translate operational standards, SOPs, and business needs into measurable learning objectives and structured learning experiences.
- Develop storyboards, scripts, facilitator guides, participant guides, assessments, and multimedia assets.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews to understand business goals, performance gaps, and learner needs.
- Partner with SMEs (HQ and franchise) to validate content accuracy and ensure alignment with real-world operational practices.
- Collaborate with Field Capability to ensure ILT content supports evolving learning objectives.
- Ensure all content adheres to SERVPRO’s content standards, brand voice, and instructional design standards.
- Maintain version control and support content lifecycle management in partnership with the LMS Architect & Governance role.
- Conduct QA reviews of courses to ensure clarity, accessibility, and instructional integrity.
- Design assessments, knowledge checks, and capability validation tools that measure learner progress and operational readiness.
- Work closely with Learning Experience to ensure content is properly structured, tagged, and optimized within the LMS.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to scope, plan, and execute content development projects.
- Incorporate learner feedback, data insights, and operational changes into content updates.
- Stay current on instructional design trends, adult learning principles, and edtech tools.
You have
- 3+ years of instructional design experience in corporate training, L&D, or franchise/field-based environments.
- Experience designing multi-modality learning (on-demand, ILT, blended).
- Background in one or more SERVPRO Schools (Restoration, Construction, Office, Biz Dev, Leadership, Onboarding) preferred.
- Proficiency with authoring tools (Articulate Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, etc.).
- Understanding of LMS structure, content governance, and metadata best practices.
- Strong communication skills — able to simplify complex information for diverse learners.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to partner effectively across L&D and Operations.
- Field-first orientation with an understanding of operational realities and learner needs.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and instructional excellence.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work-related experience.
